We regularly draft and review inter-municipal cooperative agreements—involving a wide variety of subject, from two-party agreements for shared services, personnel and equipment to more complex multi-party arrangements involving complex insurance or other programs.
Our attorneys also represent multiple intermunicipal groups and cooperatives, comprised of public school districts insuring for workers compensation coverage and group health insurance. In that capacity, we are involved with the organization, establishment and ongoing governance of groups created and operated pursuant to Article 5G of the New York State General Municipal Law; Subdivision 3a of Section 50 of the New York State Workers’ Compensation Law; and Articles 44 and 61 of the New York State Insurance Law.
We provide both advice and counsel to the governing boards of these organizations, as well as to their officers and other key personnel. We also regularly work and cooperate with the service providers that contract with and assist these entities—from insurance carriers and third-party claims administrators, to brokers and other consultants.
